About this Weekly Timesheet template
Adding up hours from start and finish times by hand is where timesheet mistakes creep in. This Excel weekly timesheet takes a start time, end time and break for each day, works out the hours worked and multiplies them by your hourly rate.
The weekly summary shows total pay, days worked, the longest day and any hours beyond 37.5 in the week.
Good for
- →Hourly workers and contractors recording time
- →Small employers checking hours before payroll
- →Freelancers billing by the hour

- →Hourly rate
How to use it
Enter times in the Start and End columns. Hours worked deducts the break automatically; leave a day blank and it counts as zero.
The file opens with sample rows so you can see every formula working before you change anything. Type your own figures over them. When you need more rows, insert them inside the existing block rather than underneath it, so the totals keep covering every row.
Shaded, boxed cells below the table are settings the formulas read from. Change those first — every row that depends on them updates at once.
Functions it uses
Every one of these exists in Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice, so the file behaves the same wherever you open it.
COUNTIFIFMAXORSUMQuestions about the Weekly Timesheet
How do I enter times?
Type them as normal times, such as 09:00 and 17:30. Excel stores times as fractions of a day and the template turns them into hours.
What if I do not work a day?
Leave the day blank and it counts as zero hours.
Can I change the 37.5-hour threshold?
The summary reports hours over 37.5. If your contract uses a different figure, change the number in that formula.
